As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Thursday October 12th Caprice Cafe will host a very special Dinner ‘Dine in Pink’; in aid of Breast Cancer Research, to help raise funds in support of the Galway based charity who fund a comprehensive breast cancer research programme at the Lambe Institute for Translation Research, NUI Galway, headed-up by Prof. Micael Kerin.

Mayo Pink Ribbon, the charity supporting breast cancer research, will host a soiree of fashion, food, cocktails, and jazz on Friday November 25 in Knockranny House Hotel, Westport.

It’s that time of year again! The Annual Mayo Pink Ribbon Charity Cycle will take place on Saturday April 30. Yet again the beauty of Mayo will be showcased as three new routes take participants through our majestic countryside. With distances of 51km, 108km and 147km there’s something to suit everyone in this event. The organisers are delighted that once again the legendary Sean Kelly and their patron, Taoiseach Enda Kenny, will lead the cycle. 

2015 was a gala year for Mayo Pink Ribbon as it announced a staggering fundraising total of €110,643 for the year. This is the highest amount ever raised and the organising committee is full of praise for everyone involved in the fundraising efforts. Monies are generated by a combination of events including the Mayo Pink Ribbon Cycle, which takes place every May Bank Holiday weekend, and the Mayo Pink Ribbon Golf Classic. 

Mayo’s efforts to paint the county pink in 2014 raised more than €90,500 for breast cancer research.

An idea that was born when a Castlebar woman who had survived breast cancer was having a chat with her friend (who happened to be the Taoiseach) about how she could raise some funds for cancer research, has grown into something of a ‘pink movement’ in Mayo.

The annual Mayo Pink Ribbon Golf Classic is back again this weekend, April 19 and 20, being held once more at Ballina Golf Club.
